What is changing on my account?

With your new card, your account will operate the same as it does now. The only changes are outlined below:

*Please note that if your existing credit card was due to expire between July and September 2013, you will have a new expiry date on your Platinum MasterCard. This means that any existing direct debits you have may need to be changed. See below for more information.

As part of a review of our products, we have decided to provide greater value for our Cardholders. We are replacing your existing Gold MasterCard with a new Platinum MasterCard at no additional cost.

SymbolWhat are the added benefits of using my new card?
  • Earn more points - Earn 1.25 points for every eligible dollar you spend. Plus enjoy an increased annual rewards cap of up to 100,000 points. (Cardholders enrolled in the Gold MasterCard Qantas Direct Earn program prior to 30 October 2011, will continue to earn 1 point for every eligible dollar spent).
  • Free Additional Cardholders - You now have the option of having up to four additional Cardholders linked to your account for free. If you have already taken advantage of this feature, the $15 fee will no longer apply.
  • Additional complimentary insurance - Including extended warranty, transit accident and interstate flight inconvenience insurance.
  • Complimentary access to the Platinum Concierge Service - Access to Platinum Concierge Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere in the world, to help you with anything from finding the best restaurant in town to organising a special gift.
  • MasterCard PayPass - Your new card is enabled with MasterCard PayPass so you can enjoy a faster way to pay. For purchases under $100, simply wave your card at contactless terminals and get through the checkout faster.

Call 1300 369 092 now and you can start enjoying your new Platinum benefits.

SymbolWill I still have access to Card Services online?

Yes, you can log in with the same details that you use now. All your account details, such as your current account balance and your transaction history, will still be available.

SymbolI have forgotten my PIN. Can I request a new one on this card?

Yes, all you need to do is call 1300 135 538 and you will be sent a PIN within the next 7 business days.

SymbolWhat happens if I don't have a PIN?

While you can still sign for your purchases, using your PIN provides you with a secure and faster way to pay. Simply call 1300 135 538 to request a PIN.

SymbolWhat happens if I don't activate my card?

If you don't activate this card, you can continue to use your current card until it expires, after which you will then be issued with a new Platinum MasterCard. The great new features and benefits of the Platinum MasterCard will only be available when you activate and use your new Platinum card.

SymbolWhat happens if I would like to keep my Gold MasterCard card?

We continuously review our products to ensure that we stay competitive in the market to suit our customers' needs. In this case, the Gold MasterCard product will no longer be available and we are now offering the Platinum Rewards MasterCard instead - giving you more rewards and benefits. Please be assured that you will keep all the same features and fees of your existing product, the only change is that we are now rewarding you with some additional benefits, on top of what your existing product offered.

SymbolWhat happens to my direct debits?

If your existing card expires after September 2013, any direct debits you may have set-up will remain the same with your new card.

If your existing card was due to expire between July and September 2013 and you have any existing direct debits set up, you may need to give your new expiry date on your Platinum MasterCard to the companies involved.

SymbolI am enrolled in the Card Services Rewards Program. What happens to my points?

Your points balance will be transferred to your new card.

SymbolWhat happens to the balance transfer on my card?

Your balance transfer will remain exactly the same on your new card.

SymbolWhat happens to my additional cardholder/s?

Your additional cardholder/s will also receive a new card to activate. Note that the Primary Cardholder must activate their card first.

SymbolI am an additional cardholder and cannot activate my card.

To activate your card, the Primary Cardholder must activate first. Once they have activated, all you have to do is call 1300 369 092 to activate your own card.

SymbolCan I use my Gold Card(s) once I have received my Platinum Card(s)?

Once you have activated your Platinum card(s), you will no longer be able to use your Gold card(s). You should activate your new Platinum card as soon as you can, by calling 1300 369 092.

SymbolWhat should I do with my Gold Card(s)?

You should securely destroy your Gold card as soon as you have activated your new Platinum card.

SymbolMy new Platinum MasterCard has PayPass. What is this?

MasterCard PayPass provides a faster way to pay for purchases under $100. Simply wave your card over contactless terminals at participating merchants to pay.

SymbolIs using PayPass safe?

MasterCard PayPass enabled cards are backed by MasterCard's Zero Liability and are as secure as any other MasterCard chip card. They carry the same multiple layers of security, which ensures that you are not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions.

While you have access to PayPass, you don't need to use it if you don't wish to. You can continue to swipe or insert your new Platinum card and enter a PIN for all purchases.

SymbolWhere can I use PayPass?

You can make the most of PayPass at participating merchants wherever you see the MasterCard logo and the contactless symbol.
