The APR charged on your Auswide Bank Platinum Credit Card may differ. Estimated savings assumes that: in each Statement Period your Minimum Payment Due is 2%; that this amount is paid on or before the Minimum Payment Due Date; there are no other transactions during the Balance Transfer period (Note that no interest free days apply whilst you have a balance transfer); and the entire balance and balance transfer fee (if applicable) is paid at the expiration of the promotional period. Savings excludes the annual fee since as an existing customer this fee (if applicable) is currently being paid by you; and other fees and charges which are dependent on your transactions or activities such as paper statement fee.

About Balance Transfers

What is a credit card balance transfer?

A credit card balance transfer is where you move an existing debt from a credit card, store card or personal loan to another credit card.

When you request a balance transfer (this can be done when you first apply for your card or after you already have your card), you are asking your existing debt provider (lender) to move your outstanding debt to your new credit card.

When considering a balance transfer promotion, it’s easy to focus on the low, or zero, interest rate being offered however don’t forget to consider the other features of the card and any applicable terms and conditions of the promotion.

What types of balances can be transferred?

When you apply for a new credit card, you can apply for a balance transfer. Any credit account balances with other financial institutions/stores can be transferred, such as:

  • Visa and Mastercard credit cards (all banks)
  • Most store cards (e.g. David Jones and Myer)
  • Personal Loans
  • Lines of credit
Are there minimum and maximum amounts I can balance transfer?

The minimum amount you can transfer is $500 and your total balance transfer may not exceed 80% of your maximum available credit limit the day the balance transfer is completed.

How do I make a balance transfer?

You can apply for a balance transfer during the application process. Existing customers can also visit a local branch or call 1300 135 538 to discuss options should you wish to transfer a balance from another card provider after you have already applied for a card.

It's important to know that the credit account you want to transfer must be in the name of the credit card primary account holder.
